land utilization and productivity, generate
income and be used as a spring-board for
growth in the industrial and service sectors.
Major agricultural products of Ethiopia
include: pulses, coffee, oilseeds, cereals,
cotton, tubers, tobacco, fruits, pepper,
sugar cane, fish and livestock. Agriculture
is the main stay of Ethiopia’s economy
providing employment to 85 per cent of the
population. The sector contributes about
45 per cent of total exports. Ethiopia’s
diversified agro-climatic conditions make
it suitable for the production of broad
range of vegetables, pulses and fruits.
